I agree with you up to the point that Stewart's not a shill. I think this story got away from them and they called in a big gun, who a lot of people on both sides of the ideological spectrum feel like you do about him, to try to get ahead of the story so they can control it better, a limited hangout if you will. Fauci is not where this ends by any means and this bioweapon funding threatens a lot of soups because it's a lot more than funding. They'll throw Fauxi to the wolves, call out more "sane" libs like Stewart and make this a non-storry soon.

Fauci is a puppet. He’s been one of the top guys in the NIH for 50 years because he is a shrewd political critter that knows how to play the game. But increasingly I am beginning to think that the CDC and NIH are fronts for the military/intelligence agencies. I bet Fauci is their guy. I bet they groom a lot of virologist at universities by letting them play with scarey stuff, like an audition. I bet the really bad stuff goes on at Ft Dietrick or maybe some shithole country facility.
I don’t see any reason why scientists would be more immune than others to state corruption or be more likely to do the “ethical” thing. Look at the shit they are doing with fetal tissue. Monstrous.
