Voting has been essentially useless since basically 1995. Around 20% of the pop provides cover for communists to rig elections against the other 80%. Combine that with jungle primaries and the 2 party was effectively dismantled. I lived in Portland through a good chunk of the aughts and it might just be selection bias, anecdotal or folks hiding what they truly thought, but most were appalled at what was happening to the city, even back then. Communists just took over.
