I get that. Let them deal with the consequences of their choices in leadership. My point is that the Right could be using this issue to their political advantage and aren't.
That portion of the electorate knows we need cops to maintain the ILLUSION of public safety and consequences for crimes. Cops are just the TSA of city life, pretty much innefectual but it keeps those that havent woken up yet complacent and deluded. That being said, decades of abuse at the hands of asshole cops on power trips has created an environment of "I know we need them, but I wouldnt go out of my way to help them."

That's ll policing has ever been. The veneer of retribution for committing a crime. Cops aren't there to protect you and me. They server as a theoretical deterrent by being there to punish criminals.
More people are starting to realize this, and thats why nobody cares if Chauvin goes down. He was an asshole, and so was George Floyd for that matter. Its hard to support either side, hence the apathy.
