This is just a negotiation tactic. A really bad tactic by naiive negotiators. For all of my critiques of Trump, that guy could make a single call and get a deal signed. The fucking guy opened up NAFTA and reneogiated it ... and Canada and Mexico could not do jack shit. This is just normal liberal modus operandi: they are so embedded in their fantasy eutopia ideals they have never spent any time in the real world building real value. All of these people have only ever worked for someone else in middle managment or been only in government and have no idea how to negotiate and strike a win / win based on real world needs.
