This reasoning seems convoluted or is there something I'm misunderstanding? How is Tucker backing the ouster of Liz Cheney from conference chair an act of sabotage?

That's because you have it backwards. TC is attacking McCarthy with the Luntz smear to put pressure on him to try and keep Liz Cheney in power. This is because he's a deep state stooge and they don't get any deeper than Cheney.

How is pointing out McCarthy and Luntz being roommates a smear? How does it help keep Liz Cheney in charge of the GOP conference? I'm trying to hear you out but this seems hard to understand.
