I mentioned it here a while ago in another thread that a few families in my neighborhood got together to hire a laid-off teacher to home school their kids. A veritable one-room schoolhouse kinda thing. They were very clear on what they wanted her to teach in addition to what she would have been required to teach them in class.
Civics was a big topic. History and the 'classics' too.

I live in a very right-leaning section of New Jersey at the moment. The left owns the state and is smothering any pockets of sanity.

I believe in parts of Europe you can't opt out of public school. I'm sure the dems would love that here.
