I think it's a double edge sword.

On one hand, it limits bad actors from a lifetime of stomping on your face.

The other, the few that actually do good work (I know, all 2 of them) from continuing to do so.

Perhaps the compromise is have term limits but to have them be 12-16 years with elections every 3 or 4 years. They also have to be confluent, meaning you can't do 12 years in the house then another 12 in the senate. It's 12 total and done. Individual states of course would set their own rules for how their own government is run.
