Oh I think you’re correct; Prester John was way too persistent of an idea to have been completely fake, and enormous material evidence exists for Tartaria and the Old Empire - which probably had at least *some* Christian elements. In fact, Genghis Khan himself said he was “the Scourge of God” against a sinful generation, and we *know* the Orthodox Monasteries remained fully operational under him and his empire - the Khans even *commissioned* some, from what I’ve heard. *And* they served as his administrative centers, staffed with Orthodox monks.
