On the one hand, this sounds like it makes a lot more sense than a red flag law, and can be used more benevolently than said red flag laws. On the other hand, I know that if they get an inch they take a mile, so I cannot trust that anything they put in will not be used malevolently or just used as a foot in the door for worse stuff later.
