I think that article is missing several important points: * They don't care about setting precedent. They're close to having absolute power and they can do whatever they like, precedent or no. * Trump has proven himself toothless. Republican senators are not afraid of Trump. By contrast the globalists have proven themselves extremely vindictive and willing to go to any length to punish their enemies. * US elections are now openly not decided by voters. Why would they care about 75 million angry, but powerless people? The only decision they're balancing right now is "which revolution is going to win, the coup or a hypothetical countercoup".
