At least the lobbyist pool is diluted with cretins that possess a competing interest with the already existing ones.
If they can't be eliminated, the next best thing is to inject them with new blood so that they have to fight amongst themselves. I mean, it's the same principle behind mass immigration. Flood the pool with more competitors so the base cost goes down.
