Cities were built as centers of commerce near rivers and ports. We now have highways and trucks that can get us to every corner of the country. We no longer have a use for the cities themselves. In fact the ports of baltimore philly and new york have nothing to do with the city. the trucks load/unload outside the city limits and only venture into deliver goods and haul out trash. Cities no longer manufacture anything within their limits.
