i'm watching on different streams..

for those unable to watch - updates below... (times are eastern)

earlier in the day the electoral vote for AZ, which was claimed for Biden, was challenged by Cruz and the house went into a debate - they have max. 2h to debate each state for which the vote is challenged

~3p

  • house in recess
  • riots
  • UNCONFIRMED reports of shot(s) fired
  • protestors entered capital
  • reports of tear gas
  • DC mayor virtually ensures violence by declaring 6p curfew

~3:30p

  • multiple reports of Trump supporters being teargassed and shot with rubber bullets
  • unknown who started riots

~3:40p

  • heard from a friend that a woman was shot earlier, possibly by capital police while entering capital building

~3:50p

  • report of National Guard deployed, though all seems relatively calm in vicinity of capital
  • house still in recess

~4p

  • Biden speaking (mostly all bullshit, naturally)
  • report of other capital buildings being stormed

~4:24p

  • Trump releases video on Twitter calling for peace and for people to go home

~4:30p

  • many people seem to be leaving capital area

~4:50p

  • appears some of the crowd left or relocated, but a substantial number remain at capital building
  • tear gas used occasionally to keep crowd back from doors of capital building, but i'm not seeing any violence

~4:53p

  • DC mayor holds press conf., confirms that the DC NG was mobilized ...
  • police working to "regain control of the capital" (this sounds exaggerated to me)
  • press conf. confirms that a woman was shot earlier
  • mayor reaffirms 6p curfew
  • only riot behavior witnessed was at the capital when protestors entered building
  • approx. 5 weapons recovered (long guns and handguns) and 13 arrests
  • press conf. ends (5:02p)

~5:07p

  • a lot more teargas being used to disperse protestors and what appears to be flash-bangs

~5:30p

  • police moving protesters away from capital building in a mostly non-violent manner
  • still many protestors remain in the area and the curfew begins at 6p
  • report of a women shot in the neck, time unknown
  • house still in recess

i'm gonna end it here - i don't know when the house will resume its session
