Im really sad to say my son has mentioned being for basic income, I asked him the same but he avoided the question. Somehow he has turned out the only or most liberal in the whole family. I blame his mom.
And no, he is not a loser, he has a better job than I ever thought about having.

Just tell him that yes, basic income is good and the people like him will need to pay a larger share of their income towards the basic income for everyone else.
