If what I'm reading is correct - and there's the likelihood it isn't - they're leaving so they're less at risk from getting sick the next time.

I know a few lefties, and apparently homesteading (and home improvement) shows are the big thing, along with cucksheds (tinyhomes). I know A LOT of leftists were moving out into the country to homestead just because of those alone. The pandemic is probably pushing a lot over the edge on the decision.
