Right. But only initially while stockpiles could be replenished. The only real benefit to flattening the curve is in giving the hospitals a chance to handle the number of patients they're forced to handle. Now what we've done that, the goalpost needs to be moved, as you pointed out.

There are still problems with getting enough PPE, but the influx of patients is currently manageable. Flattening the curve did work. Now it is time to let people get back to work. There will be people who will self quarantine and that is fine, smart if you are high risk. However most of us are not high risk so Wtf is the point?

The point, it seems to me, is control. Governors, mayors, etc. are becoming the tyrants they've always wanted to be.
