The one thing that can be said for a Sanders presidency is that it would drive a stake through the heart of the idea that Socialism works. Yes, it would crush the country doing so but people would look back on it and be able to see what happens when you implement it.

Idk that the failures would be limpid. The bulk of his legislation would not make it past the Senate. It may take years for effects of executive agencies to be noticable. The Dems along with the media will continue to influence public opinion, trying to sway it against republicans. These are, after all, the people giving Obama credit for today's economy.

After the public failed to rise up against the failure of ObamaCare, I'm unsure of what rock bottom is for socialist ideas.

As far as the public's failure to rise up against ObamaCare, I'm with you. To me that's more evidence that the socialists have a chance of winning. (Albeit a small one.)

This election cycle will be interesting, a good barometer on where the country stands on expanding and creation of new socialist programs.
