I'm of a split opinion on this. The legal system is so skewed to favor the rich. Bail is one of those instances.
These needs to be a balance where average people can make a reasonable bail while still keeping thugs off the street.
Eliminating cash bail is one of those things that sounds like it makes sense until it's put into practice. Allowing judges to review the defendant's criminal record before deciding on whether to set bail (cash or otherwise) is a smart idea. Not allowing them to set any bail at all is idiocy.
