Why? Because if people know in advance how much that meal will cost, they won't order as much.
No thank you to those restaurants who hate me. No to surcharges, kitchen appreciation fees (startpage.com), $100 per person minimum requirement (startpage.com), Credit card required to make a reservation (startpage.com). Welcome the ever expanding fees of the Covid recovery fee (startpage.com). I'm sure these are temporary and restaurants aren't also increasing their prices on top of this.
I just skip restaurants as much as I can anymore. It's supposed to be a "once in a while" thing. It seems like the younger generations have forgotten that.
More likely they never learned that dining out is a luxury to begin with.
