Years ago I had a problem with large aggressive dogs coming into my yard and acting like I was trespassing on their territory. I shot one at about 25 yards with rubber buck shot from my 12 gauge. I discovered that at that range it should not be considered "less than lethal."

Not so much for me, but for the dog yes. Although I did have to sneak the dead body away without anyone seeing...
