Whoever made the call to use live ammo and real firearms is ultimately culpable for this in my opinion. Yes he ultimately pulled the trigger but if it is what he was supposed to do it how could he know the armory staff were retarded? Actors fire blanks at the camera all the time. I hate the guys politics as much as the rest, but Jesus Christ. Unless there is something indicating he had been loading his own prop?

Point of conjecture - 'Actors fire blanks at the camera all the time - Actors do not fire at living people ' ... There are multiplre procedures on film sets for safe gun handling and practice - the most important is never firing a weapon at an actual person. Distinction is important.

I think it's implied that behind the camera is a person operating it. Unless they just have stationary cameras for shit like this. They do fire blanks in the direction of other people and I can think of one time in particular that a squib came out and killed an actor. Brandon Lee.

No, standard procedure on a Professional film set is to set up camera first to capture the gun action/ firing etc, and then crew to withdraw to a safe distance and watch from a monitor.

Also various perspective techniques can be employed to 'not actually have the people filming in the line of fire' .

All this protocol is decades old - borne out of needless deaths and accidents of film crew and actors ...

no one has determined exactly how live ammo made it on set.......

Nonsense, from a simple read of all the articles of the past year, according to Seth Kenney, the owner of the prop-shop used by the production, and txt messages he received from Guiterriz-Reed (before the shooting incident) - Live ammo was brought on to the set, and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed used the live ammo in the prop guns for live firing tomfoolery/ target practice ....

I'm guessing it's the armorer's fault. Diversity hire (her father was a renowned armorer), she'd only done one movie before that, and there were gun safety incidents on that set as well.

Yet another case of a woman being told she can do anything and fucking it up.
