Culling the herd. Darwin had a busy day. This one died of carbon monoxide, by sitting in her car with the engine running and all the windows up, while the snow built up around the bottom of the car and sealed it.

CO is an odorless, colorless gas that displaces oxygen in the red blood cells of the body, making it impossible for blood cells to carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. As a result, you die of oxygen starvation. Tell-tail sign, heightened redness in the face that looks like poorly applied rouge. Confusion leads to unconsciousness, and death. Treatment: blood transfusion. Once the carbon monoxide get hold of your red blood cells, they can't be fixed and must be replaced.

If you are stuck in the car in a snowstorm, only run the car periodically to maintain a minimum amount of heat, and keep a window of the car cranked down an inch or so to allow fresh air to enter. If you can, clear around the bottom of the car to prevent the snow from sealing it. Never go out in winter for a long drive, or when a storm is coming, without more than adequate winter clothing. Gloves or mittens are vital. It's smart to keep a blanket in the trunk, and a shovel, and a bag of sand, and a portable light.

Kitty litter is easier to find than a bag of regular sand and it works the same to give your tires grip.

Kitty litter is really good for oil spill cleanup too and if you have a RWD you can carry a whole bunch of sand and the weight of the bags in the trunk will push down on the rear axle a bit and give you some traction when you are digging the car out.

Also, keep your fuel as full as possible because you never know when you might get stranded due to pile ups, interstate shutting down, or your own mistakes.

I don't let my truck get below half a tank during winter months. Half a tank for me is 150 gallons though. Depending on what you're driving, you may want to top off more frequently if practical.

Great info by the way. I keep tire chains in the truck but never considered keeping chains/sand/shovel in the car for some reason.

“I don’t know if any of us really knew how serious it was, we didn’t see the news, we didn’t really know what was going on in Buffalo,” said Shawnequa Brown, her sister.

Niggers never have the same last name as anyone else in the family for fuck's sake.

Anyway, how do you NOT hear about the fucking blizzard coming? It's on the news even in California for like a week beforehand.
