The reason I do it is that others would post the same article I posted, a short while later, Ex_Redditor in particular. I figured the submission check for previously submitted links was unable to match the archived link I submitted with the source link they submit, so I started placing both in the post comment field. That seems to be working, far less redundancy on the /new page.

There's a duplicate algorithm that warns people about reposts. You don't have to fill the post content with the exact same link submitted in the URL field.
Okay, archive copy in the URL field and source URL in post content it is.
Having the same link posted twice in the same post is confusing users, especially on mobile, where they think the duplicate link in the post content is an extra/different one but isn't.
