To me these loses are their own hubris.
Target don't accept returns on many online purchases anymore, instead telling you to keep it or donate it. They expect people not to realize this and buy stuff in order to "return" it hoping target will say donate it so they can keep it.
Same shit with Amazon, it's braindead disregard of business fundamental because they had infinite growth for years.
I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
They don’t just arbitrarily tell people to keep their returns, they just don’t accept returns that aren’t worth the cost of return shipping. Every multi-billion dollar retail conglomerate on the planet has reached that point by allowing unquestioned returns, that’s proven to be a good business tactic. And if accepting the product back is going to cost more money than losing the product, naturally that’s the correct decision as well.
It makes way more sense that cities lessening or removing punishments for petty theft has led to increased theft than that this decades old practice of highly successful companies is suddenly a bad idea
Target specifically started this during covid. It's not just for cheap stuff. They have plenty of brick and motar stores where they used to tell people to return online purchases which stopped with covid. Yes highly successful companies have been saying to keep returns for years, during highly successful economic years of infinite projected growth.
Not saying it's not also shoplifting, there's just no such thing as free lunch. People figure out you're giving away your products.
I've returned A LOT of items, never been told to donate it.
Try target website purchases. My wife noticed during covid. I think it's for orders fulfilled by target stores lemme ask. Amazon has been telling me to keep stuff fulfilled by them since before covid.
