We spill all the candy out on our table and run our metal detector over it for shits and giggles. My kids love playing with the metal detector anyway. I'd highly recommend buying a decent metal detector if you see one heavily discounted. Mine has probably saved me tons of lost time looking for a bolt that dropped into the grass.
