Why the fuck would states do this? What incentive do they have to bind themselves to quotas that it may well be impossible to meet? Who is paying off the leaders of these states? I see no up-side to adopting California mandates for anything, only down-side. There must be money under the table here.

I just looked, of course it’s profits. Auto makers can make an additional $20,000 per car and good luck reselling it with a battery that only works at 50%. You’ll need to either replace it for 15-20 thousand or just buy new. What a racket. It will never work. I expect chaos.
