I just looked, of course it’s profits. Auto makers can make an additional $20,000 per car and good luck reselling it with a battery that only works at 50%. You’ll need to either replace it for 15-20 thousand or just buy new. What a racket. It will never work. I expect chaos.

I know buy 2030 Oregon and Washington want to shut I5 down to all non self driving cars so self driving trucks can use it exclusively. Seems like putting the cart before the horse but that’s what politicians like to do.
Good point bringing up the used market for the electric cars. Once the battery goes, the car is basically totaled.
