Combining this data with your other train derailment posts a short while before this one, it seems that you are trying to conflate those derailments with purposeful causes. You note that 1,300 per year is typical in the last 5 years, but the number of derailments has been steadily declining throughout the years present in the data.
The year 2021 had 1,056 derailments (the lowest year on the chart, btw) which averages close to 3 derailments per day over that year. If you are having nearly three derailments per day, is it really unlikely that the derailments you posted, which occurred on different days, are accidental and require some nefarious acts to explain them? Statistically it does not appear extraordinary given the frequency of derailment accidents.
Now let me posit one more thing to think about here. As time goes by, our exposure to hyperlocal news is increasing at a hastening pace. 10 years ago you would probably not heard of most small rail accidents because only the big accidents would make the national news. Now with the internet and the massive number of sites carrying 'news', we are exposed to small news from nearly every locale in the world. Could it be that you, having been exposed to more hyperlocal news than ever before, are connecting dots which you could never have seen previously?
As I said above, statistically the numbers check out. What doesn't check out is comparing your news exposure over time where we have changed from big news stories being covered to every news story being covered. Sometimes its all in the perception of the available information that we see patterns where none actually exist. Do you think perhaps you are jumping to conclusions here because you want it to fit your narrative that we are being led to starvation? Just asking because it's important to get to the root of the issue to understand it fully.
TL;DR: trails derail all the time according to your data. We get more news than ever before. It's human nature to want to find patterns. Humans are often wrong.
