I was just a little guy when that happened, but I remember the ash blowing down the street. I was about 200 miles from the eruption.

I was just a kid but was 35 miles from the eruption. Ash was everywhere for years. Even inside the house. There was some pretty serious flooding because ash and mud overflowed the rivers.

One of my uncles was a ranger up in Packwood so I got to ride along with him into the devastation area before it was open to the public. He was changing out the film in the trail cameras watching the mountain. Crazy.

I also caught some on my tongue. What a rotten taste.
