Ugh so many mistakes. Always study a map of your trip prior to leaving. Never drive off the pavement. If you are towing an RV, stay with it. Make sure to have emergency supplies with you.
I believe they were in a motor coach towing their suv. Regardless, it’s sad. I’d guess they were retirees trying to enjoy their twilight years and everything that could go wrong went wrong even if some of it was poor planning and decisions. Very sad. We are all human and make mistakes. This one costed them big time.
The article makes it sound like they unhooked the Kia Soul and took that. Then got stuck again. Did they not bring supplies from the motor coach with them? A week isn’t that long if you have some snacks and water. But they were using their masks to use snow/ice drippings as water.
In my persona vehicle, I keep a couple gallons of water and protein bars.
Sad story.
