I think once it begins ,for the most part it has, it will be a chain reaction that even gibbsmedat cant fix. The problem is there will be drastic supply shortage because countries will stop trading with the US whos worthless fiat is just a projection of a country that does not produce anything. In the 1930's people were much more self sufficient and could actually produce enough to keep moving forward without government intervention. Whats happening now is going to be much worse. Because the shortage could only be rectified by domestic production yet a solid 85% of people arent capable of producing anything even if they had to in order to survive. UBI programs cannot correct for physical shortage only a population capable of out producing the shortage can rectify it.
I am not saying it won't happen, but I think it's a couple of years off. Way sooner if China and NK go after SK and we're forced into World War III. They will be rationing shit here wholesale. Now we can produce everything we need here and there will have to be a massive cost of living adjustment (going down) so everything is affordable if the US and the EU cut themselves off from the rest of the world.
Im not sure we can produce everything we need here anymore. We have the raw materials but the mind and spirit are whats lacking. To spin up industry will take 10-20 years maybe longer. A lot of stuff has to be rebuilt and a lot of knowledge was lost and processed materials will be hard to find. The problem is the shortage will kill you now. It wont wait for 20 years while you rebuild.
Good point. I read somewhere once that it would take 10 years to ramp up to World War II production levels, and that was in a purely ideal setting. Back in the 40s we did it two years because the infrastructure existed and it was repurposed. We'd have to build that infrastructure that is now all in China and Mexico. Which is why I laugh my ass off everytime I hear Comrade Psaki or that faggot Jake Sullivan threatening China because sanctions aren't happening there. They aren't going to risk Walmart shutting down, GM going under because 3/4rds of their cars are made overseas, same with Ford. Not to mention spare parts, electronics, computers, etc. You think Biden will crash Apple's stock because they make all their shit in China? I think sanctioning China would destroy a 1/4 of the global wealth overnight.
