They aren’t wrong. The US is piss poor at performing its executions. Fewer and fewer people even know how to use the equipment. What equipment that remains is antiquated and falling apart. For lethal injections, the US can’t even get its hands on the chemicals. The only humane and sensible option is a bullet to the head. Why they haven’t been doing this already astounds me.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the tip toeing around the firing squad is because it's traditionally reserved for soldiers

Could be. I always thought it was more a public relations issue. Injection and gas can be passed off as ‘humane’ but simply blowing someone’s brains out has a bit more ‘brutality’ attached to it. Which is ironic, because gas, injection, electrocution and hanging all are regularly brutal as fuck. I read about one execution where the electrocution was botched intentionally in order to drag it out and increase the pain…. Which is fucked up.

Lethal injection scares the piss out of me; it's horrifying. Imagine being strapped to a gurney in a sterile environment while men rig up a system that is going to clinically push poison through your veins. FUCK THAT.

The sterile, bureacratic environment of it is awful and brutal in a way that I find repulsive. Die like a man on your feet and face the bullets.
