Many new cars already have kill switches in them. Black boxes are another "feature" the gov't want and that would allow them to real time monitor you wireless and shut you down remotely instantly.

I thought this was in the BBB bill and not this one. If it can be hacked or police can acces you should be able to disable the system to prevent this from happening.

Safety over freedom and you deserve neither.

A few scenarios he missed are icy/snowy weather, high winds etc.

Reaching for something or if it’s reading lane departures there’s a lot of roads that have been relined and the lane departure will beep constantly.

Also when going from one lane two if you have lane assist on it will almost slam you into oncoming traffic or the curb and is the reason I keep it off.

Most places have emissions testing and/or safety testing and they will fail you if they see any tampering at all. The car makers have tried a few times to get the gov't to allow them to seal an engine compartment forcing you to use the dealer only to work on it and a broken seal means no emissions sticker. I live somewhere that doesn't have safety or emissions testing and that is on purpose.

I made another comment with a comment thread stupid people everywhere luckily most have a brain.

We have emission testing since were so close to Portland. The car manufacturers made a deal and your first sticker is good for 5 years then you test. But at 5 years state law states the manufacturer is no longer responsible for emission repairs even if your warranty is still in effect.

Basically you could buy a new car that could never pass emissions and after 5 years you’ll have to spend thousands replacing something that should’ve never been sold.

If it’s diesel trucks or a popular car you can buy a reprogrammable chip and when it’s emissions time you put it back to default.

The market is going to be huge for those if it every takes off. They have six years, then an additional 3 then they can let congress know it can’t be done safely, which will never happen unless people start protesting it now.

Planned obsolescence. Five years is the lifespan auto makers shoot for due to the common length of time of an auto loan. It's super kosher.

I just looked it up and probably a 1/4 of the people in the comments support it.

Most of the idiots believe you should have an emergency override button but then it has to be reviewed by authorities and if you lied or don’t get it reviewed you lose your license.

Fucking morons.

No, press the button and innocent until reviewed and found to continue to be innocent. Similar to those 'in case of emergency, break glass (abuse will be prosecuted)' emergency brakes on trains and other similar constructs. This is a solved problem, I don't see why you would attach any special significance to it.

I'm grateful that my dad taught me the basics of vehicle maintenance and the value of having mechanical components.
