One of the more insidious myths making the rounds this year was that young people didn't want to work because they were getting by just fine on government aid. People had too much money, went the narrative from a handful of politicians and pundits. - Only trouble is, the numbers don't back it up.

I paid for rent, a new car, and student loans on the equivalent of $17.66 hour in this area adjusted for inflation from my time. I also managed to save up enough money for 10% down on a house.

That's a very high wage for entry level work and still won't pay for housing with much income to spare anywhere that isn't a "diverse" hellhole.

Dude, Del Taco is paying $20 an hour for a manager right now. That's $3466 a month gross. It's kind of sucky, but you can manage. What people mean when they say it's not enough for rent is it's not enough for rent in the kind of place the feel entitled to live. Funny thing, entitlement.

That's a much harder job to get compared to working the register or something like that, I'd hardly consider management to be entry level.

Dude, a manager at Del Taco is not management. LOL. Management is executive level. Maybe a regional manager or better. A manager at Del Taco is a warm body with skills beyond following directions and pressing pictures of food on a register.

There's no place within 100 miles of Los Angeles that you can live where you won't be drowning in a sea of spics. The whitest of white areas in Los Angeles larger than a block or two are about 40-50% non-white. It's all downhill from there.
Within two minutes of looking I found a fucking house for rent in a pretty good area for $1,500. That's easily affordable by anyone making $19, and that's a fucking house.
