It depends on the design. If it's like On Star that requires servers so that it can be started from anywhere, that's one thing. If it's a radio connection that is a direct connection between the car and the fob, that's another. However, if that's the case, there shouldn't be any way for Toyota to change the software to include the charge model.

True, but then the question is why you'd want to start your car engine if you aren't anywhere near your car. Engineers preoccupied with what they could vs should do, etc.

I don’t have it, but I can see value in it during extreme temperatures. Too hot, get the AC going. Too cold? Get those seats heated up.

Personally, I’m with you, and if my kids don’t get 3rd degree burns from their seat belt buckles, I’ll consider myself a failure as a father.
