That's not a law. That's NRA advice. And, you are under no obligation to follow it. Yes. You are responsible for shooting people if you disregard it, but there are no obligations to be "safe" with a gun, outside of reckless endangerment type shit.

We haven't established that Wisconsin law is as you describe. That being said, a law that says it's not a crime to point a firearm at somebody unless the victim has reason to believe it's loaded DOES run afoul of just about every principle of gun safety.

I agree that we was not in violation of any Wisconsin statutes that I'm aware of, but that doesn't mean it wasn't reckless.
