The crisis will end because there won't be much to ship under communist rule.

That guy knows what he's talking about. I've hauled a few containers, less than half a dozen, from Long Beach and yes, it really does suck that bad.

in fact the laws of supply and demand mean that they are actually going to make more money through higher rates, without changing a thing.

In the short run. Other actors will see how much money these guys are making and will want in on the action. More people getting in on the action is what will drive prices down.

This is a common theme with leftist thinking - that a "fat cat capitalist" can just constrain supply of something to boost his profits. That only works in a system where competitors are prevented from competing. In a competitive system that fat cat is going to find others eating up his profits by muscling in on his action.

Nobody is compelling the transportation industries to make the needed changes to their infrastructure. There are no laws compelling them to hire the needed workers, or pay them a living wage, or improve working conditions.

I knew this nigger was a commie. It's all happening because the benevolent government hasn't stepped in to corral these evil capitalists into doing "the right thing."

Imagine if we had a government whose job it was to encourage competition rather than block competition. Imagine the SBA prioritized loans for businesses opening in key sectors that have less competition. What if they were handing out cheap loans to people starting trucking companies or warehouses? Dream on.

Honestly it sounds like a handful of crane operators , security guards, and some missing container trailers are to blame, meaning someone moved the trailers somewhere and laid off a dozen or two people to cripple the nation. If we still manufactured in the US, this wouldn't be a problem - thanks Clinton for pushing everything to china

One unanswered question, is the shortage of container trailers - those are reused for millions of miles and thousands and thousands of loads. If there is a shortage, where did they go?

That my question for all kinds of "shortages" we see lately. For a particularly strange example (to me, anyway) it's completely impossible to buy frozen chicken thighs, chicken wings, or drumsticks around here. The stores are overflowing with chicken breast, but you can't get anything else. So they had the fucking chickens to get the breasts. Where the fuck did the rest of the chicken go?

My buddy owns a restaurant and he was just telling me he can't get wings all of a sudden. So yeah, that is strange. It's all manufactured to punish us I'm sure.

It says in the article that the containers are sitting on shipping company property full of goods. The shipping company is seeing the high rate of pay to move containers off ports so they are taking advantage by moving the containers to their property and delivering them at a later date

So basically we as Americans suffer because a few min wage security guards (and maybe a crane operator or two) are not employed.
