You don't ever forfeit your right to self defense.
The prosecutor's argument is that "by having the ability to defend yourself, you forfeit your right to defend yourself." This prosecutor should be disbarred. His arguments are absurd and have nothing to do with enforcing the law but rather a political viewpoint. We've reach the point where a rioting felon or someone with an illegal gun can chase after someone and the state protects the criminals. However, if you're the father of a 14 year old girl who has been raped and speak out about it then the DoJ jumps in to prosecute you and anyone who would tell your story.
