He isn't going to go to jail because there is no concrete definition for 'growth of function.' Fauci admitted he was funding the lab, admitted the lab was working on a version of the virus that allows it to duplicate itself at a faster rate, and then said that does not mean he was funding 'growth of function' research. Anyone paying attention knows he is lying. But it's a lie that is not enforceable by law because of the lack of definition to the term.
Everyone not paying attention will see what Fauci said and somehow come away with the understanding that he did nothing wrong and that Rand Paul is just trying to smear him. This is one of those perfect examples of how the same story and same facts will lead to people coming away with completely opposite ideas of what is going on. Fauci even does one of the oldest tricks where he puts a huge space in between himself and the action he took, and all he still has going for him is arguing what the definition of growth of function is. He talks like a rat and you are never going to get him to admit the truth.
