Your reasonable question will fall on the ears that are ringing with the oft repeated phrase "for the greater good". Those same ears will gladly endorse this "safety" measure even if it means they are judged guilty until proven innocent simply because they have been conditioned to believe that fear is virtuous. They are so desperate to feel safe that they will trade anything and everything to have Big Daddy Government make them feel safe. They will never be safe, especially from Big Daddy Government.
