The IRS could spend an afternoon at Microsoft, Google or other large business headquarters conducting an audit and make at least millions - Or, they could harass a couple running a small business store and try to collect an additional $25.07, with a penalty of $75.21. During these times it's our duty to pay as little taxes as possible. And, the Supreme Court has ruled that it is not against the law to minimize your taxes. If you have a small business the easiest (and usually most profitable way to make additional money) is to reduce your tax load. Don't use an accountant, but actually familiarize yourself with applicable parts of the code and do your taxes yourself. Every time there is a reasonable grey area, give yourself the benefit of the doubt. Even if the IRS comes after you for one or two of these write offs and penalizes you, you'll still come out way ahead. If audited, never volunteer information and don't explain. Answer the question and then shut up.
