I have seen this done in the White Mountain in NH, stocking remote Fly Fishing Ponds miles in the middle of the Forrest. Pretty cool.

I think I was in Montana or the Dakotas when they had a batch of retard fish they couldn't release into the wild so the hatchery had a $2 catch all the fish you want day. They were retarded trout but they tasted good. They would bite any hook so you would cast a lure deep and reel like hell so only the big ones would bite.

Unfortunately the stocked Trout here are fed Liver Pellets and tastes as such. (Ass) All white meat until they adapt to eating naturally and the meat turns pink. We do have native brook trout and some salmon though.
