Conservatives did. The republican part isn't conservative though.

i think that there is a good chance, especially as society breaks down, that the pendulum is going to swing so far away from degeneracy that there is a good chance they will lose more than the right to marry. actively going after sex with kids is not going to be a winning strategy for them
