MCLEAN, VA — The area around CIA's headquarters in McLean is now open following reports of police activity, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Late Friday morning, Fairfax County Police said Route 123 was closed between Georgetown Pike and Savile Lane due to police activity in the area. Drivers were asked to seek an alternate route.

WJLA reported that a robot designed for suspicious package investigations is on site. Officials successfully knocked the suspicious item off of the column and removed it from the area.

The police activity proved to be shorter than an attempted intruder standoff on May 3 that led to an FBI agent-involved shooting outside the CIA headquarters entrance. After a standoff outside the secure entrance, the person came out of his vehicle with a weapon and was shot, the FBI's Washington Field Office said. The person later died at the hospital.

All glows okay.
