It's pretty easy to spot the fake reviews. They are usually the ones at the top with five stars that gush about how wonderful and useful the product is. I disregard any review that is solicited. I want to hear from buyers who have a gripe about the product. But you also need to bear in mind that some reviews are there to attack the company and run down sales.
Read the negative reviews to identify patterns. If a lot of the negative reviews mention the same problem I don't care if it has 50,000 5-star reviews. If Amazon really wanted to help their customers make informed choices they would give us that info in tabular form:
- 15 users reported that this battery's capacity is not as high as the manufacturer claims
- 25 users report this battery has a high self-discharge rate
- 10 users report the battery will not hold a charge
