I swear to God I'm about to quit mine. Almost at my last straw. I'm a motorcycle/ATV mechanic at a dealership. My boss is a fucking retarded asshole. He thought it would be a good idea to hire another technician when we were not struggling to keep up with the work as it was. It was comfy. Customers had to wait until we got a chance to work on their machines, but there was plenty of work for us 3 technicians to make a living. Now, with another tech, there is not enough work to support 4 techs. Fucking dumbass thought that if he hired another technician, that would be a good thing. But guess what? You can't just hire another tech and expect everything to be okay. You need MORE CUSTOMERS now to get us all the work/money we need to fucking live. My last paycheck was fucking $350. And I'm no slacker. Not enough work to go around now. Ima try to find a dealership that pays their techs hourly. Even if I make a couple dollars less an hour, if I was paid by the actual hours I work, I'd be making way more money. Fucking prick.
Shit, if you lived in my area, I'd pay you under the table to do the first service on my new bike and figure out the idling issue with my old Concours.
My dealership has a five to six week waiting list, so I'm going to just do it all myself when I get time.
Are you commission or hourly?
flat rate. so "this job takes 2 hours to do normally. You'll get paid 2 hours to do it."
You can be good and finish the job in 1 hour, or if you have trouble and it takes 3 hours, you're still only paid 2 because that's what they're charging the customer.
Hmm with jobs out there aplenty I would quit. Find a hourly pay 40 hour a week guaranteed. Unless you like where you are at. I would keep my area neat and organized. Have your own file system on what you did, and if a customer returns make sure you stand out. That way he requests you over the new guy.
