The "fact checkers" don't care that they were wrong. They print the accusation in the front page in 72pt and the retraction as a foot note in 6pt on page 11. 90% of the people who were exposed to the "fact check" and used it to reinforce their confirmation bias will either not have seen the retraction or will just block it from their mind as it is disconfirmatory.
