She chose an unauthorized company because she was trying to evade detection by investigative journalists/ or anyone who might just be curious. She is therefore aware of her own hypocrisy, and instead of choosing to lead with integrity, she chooses to try to preserve her self-assumed unaccountability. She did this because she doesn’t want to be accountable for the consequences of her self-entitlement.
