2400 extra a month, per person is 28k plus whatever the state pays. That is more than a lot of people make. In an expensive city that might not be enough; but most places, especially if it is a couple, it is a ton and you can just do whatever you want or work on the black market.

I know. I was laid off last April and got in on the extra $600. I was making more per week sitting on my ass than I make working right now.

It's hard to understand people who think this isn't affecting anything.

There is a huge problem of "trust in authority" right now, mostly because authority is currently not working towards the goals they are entrusted to push towards.

Basically there are very experienced people in the government and the fed who are making decisions, so why on earth would "you" think that you know better than them what is best for the people.

Stunning to anyone who didn't pay attention during Econ 101.

It's kind of funny, last summer a big study came out that said the extra money wasn't causing any issues with finding people, especially in the restaurant industry. I remember seeing some reddit shit about that time where they were vehemently defending this study even as it flew in the face of reality.

Certain people don't consider reality to matter if it goes against their preferred worldview.
