If the minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would probably be about $12 today.

I think it's more a lack of good paying jobs than minimum wage, and it's companies that want high skills for $10 an hour.

United Emirates of Ohio

lmao...

That is nuts about the chemical tech, we pay our dishwashers $10 an hour. We used to pay them $9 until they told me I can't hire high school kids anymore (total bullshit, they were some of our best workers, and I can't get around that. what type of adult is going to work for 10 an hour... niggers that ride the bus, that's who)

I don't believe that the government needs to set a min wage. Just look at Ohio, I don't know anyone who hires at min wage. The market has already decided that it is too low.

Once you get out of the larger cities, there are still plenty of $7.25 an hour jobs out there. The little town I grew up in still has some small industries but they constantly are looking for people because no one wants to handle hot iron for minimum wage.

I don't know how these companies are getting workers anymore, not with Amazon sopping up the workforce. I have noticed a lot of the long-time established shitty industries around me are casting their nets further and further, but who is going to drive 40 miles one way down two-lane highway for a job that requires you work in a factory that blows glass, but pays less than Amazon?

That's nuts, if you are driving that far for low wage, how is it worth it?

Although we get people from the other side of town that spend 3 hours a day on the bus to work (round trip). IDK why they do it. Did they burn through all the jobs on their side of town? Although I did have one black tell me, "I don't like working with a lot of other blacks, so I come out here to work". lmao...

It isn't worth it. The one company I can think of, a glass manufacturer, is used to having a captive audience. When I got a call from them, I literally told the caller that Amazon pays more, and L Brands pays even more than Amazon if you're a maintenance guy. She was just a deer in the headlights, and didn't understand.

"I don't like working with a lot of other blacks, so I come out here to work".

Yeah, even they don't like them. LOL
